DIY Chalkboard Plate

All you need is:
Chalkboard Paint
Foam Paintbrush
Paint Tape
An item that you want to turn into a chalkboard
....and of course Chalk for when its done:)

First, start by taking your item to paint and marking off with the paint tape. I used a platter that matches all my dishes, I have two of them. So I went ahead and decided why not have a chalkboard that matches.

Second, start painting the chalkboard paint onto the surface. You will want to do two coats, but let your first coat sit over night. Or just most of the day.

Third, you will take the tape off after its completely dry, now you have a chalkboard! Start writing away. I added decor around mine. I have a chicken and rooster kitchen so I added some fabric rolled flowers to match as well.

Place Mat for your Pet

Supplies Needed:
Bias Tape - Double Fold
Scissors
1/2 yard of fabric
Batting
Thread to match
Sewing Machine

Cut your batting to the size of you fabric.

Lay one piece of your fabric with wrong side up, batting on top then your other piece of fabric on top of the batting with the right side up.

Sew all around the edges, making sure to catch your batting.

I then trimmed my edges close to the stitch.

After the trimming start pinning you bias tape all around.

Now sew your bias tape to your fabric and you have yourself a place mat for you dog.

So simple and cute all in one!

Slip Covers for your pets Collar

If you are like me, with no kids, you spoil your animals. I am very bad when it comes to our labs Jewel and Maizy. They get anything and everything they want! Oh well, Andrew and I love our girls. The cat, Sabrina who is 19, is very spoiled too! I love to spoil our girls when it comes to collars. Jewel gets so excited when the bin of collars comes out of the closet. Its their Jewelry, and what girl doesn't love jewelry! I got to the point of not wanting to spend $10 to $20 on a new collar every once in awhile for them. So I thought about making slip covers! It worked and the girls look so cute! So I hope you enjoy the tutorial. You could even make these out of scrap pieces and have different fabrics all on one.

How to Sew a Slip Cover for Your Dog or Cat Collar

 Supplies Needed
Sewing Sheers
Fabric
Marking Pen
Sewing Machine
Thread
Iron & Iron Board
Collar
Ruler
(Thats Maizy... Always wondering what I am making)

1. Measure the width of your collar, multiply that number by 4. Mine was 1" so 4 x 1" = 4", this is the width of your fabric. You can cut your length to how ever long you want, Mine was 44", and I love ruffles, so the more the merrier! Just make it long enough to  cover the collar.

2. Fold over the width and iron, this will be your hem. I usually do a 1/4" hem but you can do whatever you want. :)

3. Time to SEW! Just sew your hem down.

4. After you get your hem done, its time to iron again. Fold the length in half and have the right sides touching and iron. I don't use pins all the time, if you need to use them go for it. I short cut a lot :0)

5. Sew it all the way down to close. Don't forget to seal your stitching, back stitch.

6. Now you need to turn your "tube" inside out. There are different ways to do this. I  know you can use a safety pin, but this is how I do it. I like to fold the ends down and stick my finger in and make a hook and pull up and pull down with my other hand. (hopefully that made sense)

This is how your would start feeding the safety pin up.

This is how I do it with my finger.

7. Start puttin your collar inside the slip cover. Adjust the fabric to how you would like it.

Ta Da! You are done!

Here are my models in their slip covers; Jewel is wearing the cheetah collar an Maizy is in the blue collar.

Chicken Surprise

Why "Chicken Surprise"?

This all came about when I moved to Michigan to be with Andrew. I was cooking chicken for dinner one evening, Andrew happened to look at the ingredients that I was combining and with a smile on his face he asked if we where having "Chicken Surprise" for dinner. That's when I knew there had to be a story behind that cute little smirk. It was funny the more I thought about it, so I needed to know the story. I called and asked Linda, Andrew's mom if she knew the story, yep she did and it actually started with Rose's husband, Joe. From what I understand he was over at his parents house one evening, not long after they where married, and Linda had asked what was for dinner, he said with that same familiar smirk and half smile on his face  "oh probably Chicken Surprise". Rose had no idea that he was calling anything that she made with chicken, "Chicken Surprise"!!!. About a year and half ago I said something to Rose about Andrew calling our dinner Chicken Surprise and how he came up with the name. Rose jokingly confronted Joe about it and with a proud grin on his face he said yes he got that from me!! So now whenever Rose and I want to try a new chicken recipe it's our inside joke that it's "Chicken Surprise" day. Let me know what you think of the following recipe, it sure is a favorite in our homes.Chicken Surprise

Crock Pot
1 large can cream of chicken soup
1 large can cream of mushroom soup
1 bag Egg Noodles
1/2 tsp. or to taste garlic salt
1/2 tsp. or to taste pepper
1 tsp. parsley flakes
1 tsp. onion powder
3 large chicken breasts
Milk

Put the cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and 1 large can (use the empty chicken or mushroom soup can) of milk in your crock pot. Let it warm up for about 10 minutes. Then add the garlic salt, pepper, parsley flakes, and onion powder. Bring it to a boil and add the chicken. Make sure your chicken is bite pieces. When its 20 minutes before dinner time, add the egg noodles let them soften and you’re done. This only really needs to cook in the crock pot for about 5 hours. The aroma in the house is wonderful!!!!

Strawberry Lemonade Popsciles

Alright, I love summer, ice cream, Popsicle's, flip flops, shorts, tank tops..... EVERYTHING about SUMMER. This is so easy! It was shared by a wonderful friend of mine on her blog Kayla's Creations. Her picture sold me, it just looked so delicious! These Popsicle's were so easy. I don't have Popsicle maker trays. So what I did was put the lemonade and strawberries in a blender and blended it all together. Then poured a little bit in to a plastic cup added a Popsicle stick and put them in the freezer. I even made ice cubes! Yummy in a drink! Hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I did, and still do. :)

Frozen Peanut Butter Dog Treats

As you all know I do spoil my girls, the dogs, Maizy and Jewel, they love it when I make them homemade cookies and frozen treats. I am going to give you  a recipe on how to make your dogs a yummy frozen treat for the summer. "The girls" love ice cubes, but Jewel gets bored with them real quick. She will take the ice cube from you and then run to the carpet and kind of play with it and then leave there. If we don't find it we will end up with a small wet spot, or Maizy will find it in time and eat it.

So here is a treat that every dog will love!

Ingredients Needed:
1 cup of vanilla yogurt
1 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of water
1 cup of dog food
Combine the yogurt, peanut butter and water in a blender..
Take an ice cube tray or a muffin pan (if using a muffin pan, I do put the muffin liners in the pan) and pour the mixture into each area fill about 3/4 full. Now take the dog food and sprinkle on top, then you just put them in the freezer. They should be ready in 1 hour, but I make them at night and then I know they are ready by morning.

Hope all your dogs are happy after trying this new treat.

They are waiting for their treats!

xoxo
